A whole new ball game for Basingstoke branch
Newbury Building Society’s Basingstoke branch will host its first ever netball tournament on Wednesday 8 July 2015 at Everest Academy from 6-8pm. Local companies have been invited to take part in the tournament, competing against two teams from the Society.
Battling for supremacy are contenders Carter Jonas, AXA Wealth/Proteus Theatre, The Breeze, Phillips Solicitors, Michael Usher Mortgages, Contractor Financials, Brain Chase Coles Solicitors and Lamb Brooks Solicitors. A trophy will be presented to the winning team.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Society’s charity of the year, the Pink Ribbon Foundation (Charity Number 1080839). The Pink Ribbon Foundation’s mission is to fund projects and provide financial support to UK charities which relieve the needs of people who are suffering from, or who have been affected by breast cancer. They also work to advance the understanding of breast cancer, its early detection and treatment.
The Society continues to hold Pink days in all 11 branches and at Head Office, where on the last Friday of every month, staff donate money and wear pink to show their support. The Society has appeared at various local fetes, carnivals and events with its mascots Barry Bear and Betsy Bear, while its Wokingham branch successfully completed a 101 mile virtual-cycle to raise money. So far the Society has managed to collect over £8,000 for the charity since their partnership began in 2012.
