Building society tackles the Half Marathon
Newbury Building Society gets into the fundraising spirit of the Basingstoke Half Marathon.
Our Basingstoke branch staff embraced the fun of the local half marathon when it was held recently. Nerves were tested in the buzzwire challenge, where the public had to try and complete it in the fastest time possible. An inflatable assault course was set up for those daring to take up the challenge and children’s face painting also ran to raise money for a local charity, St. Michael’s Hospice North Hampshire (Reg. Charity No. 1002856). They managed to raise a total of £220.57 for the charity.
Not only did we appear at the event but the Society also raised an amazing amount for their charity of the year the Pink Ribbon Foundation. Five members of the public, who signed up to run to raise money for the charity, raised £403.36.
Business Manager for Newbury Building Society, Diane Long, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s supported the event in some way. We’ve had great support from our local community in raising money for the two charities, and the runners who’ve taken up their time to help us.“
