Giving Trees begin to grow

Newbury Building Society helps local disadvantaged children this Christmas.

There has been a wonderful response to projects that will help to ensure a happier Christmas for some of our area’s less fortunate children. Giving Trees are flourishing in a number of Newbury Building Society’s branches this year, hoping to better the success of last year’s fantastic response.

Head over to our Basingstoke branch in Festival Place before Friday 19 December and leave a gift under the tree. That same Friday, the Breeze team and members of staff from the Society will be honing their wrapping skills for the final day of donations.

Meanwhile, the Society’s Wokingham branch is also taking part in an annual appeal which saw thousands of presents donated for children last year.  Charities benefitting from the appeal include Barnardo’s/Young Carers, Dingley Play Group, Home Start and Berkshire County Blind Society. People wishing to donate can pick up a tag in branch, purchase a present and return the gift, unwrapped, to a member of staff.

Deborah Gadd, Office Manager of the Wokingham branch, said: “We are delighted once again to be able to support the Giving Tree appeal that helps children from vulnerable local families to have a very merry Christmas.”

The Society is also supporting the West Berkshire Toy Appeal. Its Newbury branch is hoping to receive unwrapped toys, gifts and games suitable for children of any age. If you can’t make it to the Newbury branch, there are also drop-off points in our Thatcham and Hungerford branches. The appeal is run by Swift Couriers.

You still have plenty of time to make a donation and can visit any of the branches mentioned with your gifts. All gifts should be new and left unwrapped. Visit www.newbury.co.uk for further information about Newbury Building Society.
