Hayley bags herself a day out at Beale Park
Newbury Building Society presented Hayley Harragan with a family ticket to Beale Park this week after guessing the closest number to the correct amount of Barry Bears in a box at Thatcham Fun Day. Hayley popped into the Society’s Thatcham branch to pick up the prize after her hunch of 68 bears paid off; the actual total was 69.
Beale Park, founded in 1956, is dedicated to the care and conservation of rare and endangered animals. The Park has grown over the years, with fun, adventure, animals, gardens, play and activities on the banks of the picturesque River Thames.
Meanwhile, revellers were undeterred by morning downpours as the Society joined in the festivities at this year’s Thatcham Family Fun Day event, which took place at Henwick Worthy Sports Ground on Sunday 28 June 2015.
The event welcomed stalls, sports, rides and many other attractions. Barry bear and Betsy Bear took part in the crowd-pleasing Mascot Race, even if they didn’t exactly go for gold, preferring to stroll hand in hand and wave to the amused spectators.
Office Manager for the Thatcham branch, Debbie Brockett, said: “After a damp start the sun came out and by midday the event was packed with people. The Society’s Bears in the Box game proved popular with those who attended – congratulations to Hayley for winning such an exciting prize. We hope she enjoys Beale Park.”
