Society tickled pink by fundraising efforts
Newbury Building Society has raised over £4,000 for its charity of the year, the Pink Ribbon Foundation.
Members of staff from Newbury Building Society were delighted to present the Pink Ribbon Foundation with a cheque totalling £4040.30 on Friday 18 March. The presentation took place at the Society’s Head Office, in Newbury, and was the result of various fundraising activities which took place during 2015.
The Pink Ribbon Foundation’s mission is to fund projects and provide financial support to UK charities which relieve the needs of people who are suffering from, or who have been affected by breast cancer. They also work to advance the understanding of breast cancer, its early detection and treatment. To date, the Society has raised over £12,000 for the charity since their partnership began in 2012.
The latest donation was raised during 2015 in a number of ways, including a netball tournament with local companies competing against teams from the Society. A large sum was also raised from the Society’s Annual General Meeting vote, where the Society pledged 15p for every paper vote and 50p for every vote cast online by its members.
The Society continues to hold Pink days in all eleven branches and at Head Office on the last Friday of every month. Staff donate money and wear pink to work to show their support.
