Society wins Innovative Technology Award
Newbury Building Society won the 2016 HR Distinction Awards in the Distinction in Innovative Use of Technology category. The awards ceremony – held at The International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham on Wednesday 3 February 2016 - was judged by a panel of highly respected human resources experts.
The award recognises excellence in the use of technology by an in-house HR team. Judges were looking for a business which was achieving business and strategic objectives through the development or sourcing of technology.
The Society implemented a new training solution which has dramatically improved the effectiveness with which staff acquire and retain business and regulatory knowledge. Enlisting the help of Elephants Don’t Forget (EDF), Clever Nelly is a unique and engaging application that reinforces training and embeds knowledge through continuous assessment and measurement.
Members of staff improve their know-how simply by answering regular questions on screen, and watching their knowledge levels increase through repetition. The Society can understand at a glance the level of knowledge and capability within its business to ensure that future training is targeted and relevant.
Anne-Marie Goldsmith, the Society’s HR Manager, who was at the event and received the winning trophy, said: “We are delighted to have received the 'Distinction in Innovative use of Technology' award at the prestigious HR Distinction Awards 2016. Nelly, as she is affectionately known throughout the Society, has helped us achieve an effective and engaging staff training programme. Our members of staff are required to understand the areas of regulation applicable to their roles and Nelly helps us achieve this in a quick, fun, and effective manner. ”
The Society faced stiff competition to win the award, sponsored by Software Europe. British Gas, Dubai Police, Mitie Facilities Management and NCR Corporation were also nominated. Visit www.newbury.co.uk for more information about Newbury Building Society.
