The opening deposit into your savings account must be received from an account in your name.

There are several ways to pay money into your account.  

  • If you are a new or existing customer, opening a new account, you can pay into your account once the myaccounts team have confirmed by secure message that your account has been successfully opened.  

  • If you are an existing customer, you can pay into your existing accounts at any time. 

Ways to pay in

The Society uses NatWest bank to receive funds and providing you have given us the correct reference (your 10-digit Newbury Building Society account number) the funds will be credited to your mortgage or savings account. Please note, funds can take up to one working day to show in your Newbury Building Society account. 

Your bank may have limits in place for faster payments and may require you to send your payment by a different payment system called CHAPS, so please check this for large payments. CHAPS details can be found on this page, or you can contact us for more information. 

When setting up a new standing order or making a one-off payment, please use these details: 

Account name 

For an individual, please use the first name and surname of the person who owns the account. For a business, please use the name of the business. 

If you are paying into a joint account, you should be able to use the first name and surname of either account holder.

If you are paying in £50,000 or more, please use the CHAPS process.

 

CHAPS payments may incur a cost with your bank or building society. They are typically used for large transactions.

You can use your debit card to make an instant deposit into your savings account by following these steps: 

  1. Select your savings account. 

  2. Go to “Payments” > “Add Funds.” 

  3. Choose “Fund now by debit card.”

  4. Confirm the card is yours. 

  5. Enter the amount and click “Continue.” 

  6. Enter your card details and click “Proceed to verification.”

or take it to any of our branches

We accept cash in all our branches.

Please note: If you have a large number of coins to deposit, please check with us before bringing them to branch as we have limits on the number we can accept.

We advise against sending cash to us in the post.
