Bringing cash back to Thatcham high street with OneBanx

It's not just the floors, furniture, and paint that are fresh in our refurbished Thatcham branch - we also have an extremely exciting new addition in the form of a OneBanx kiosk, officially launched at a special event on Wednesday 19 June.

The machine was unveiled to guests, including the Mayor of Thatcham and Chief Executive of the Building Societies Association (BSA), with a special demonstration from the OneBanx team.

What's a OneBanx kiosk?

We are immensely proud to partner with OneBanx (a GLORY company) whose technology enables financial institutions like us to provide community access to cash.

The kiosk enables customers to pay money in (both small business and personal banking customers), as long as they have the right account details. It also allows customers of a range of banks to make cash withdrawals of up to £500 a day.

You can find the full list on the OneBanx website. Most importantly, it’s completely free to use and open to everyone. You will need to download the OneBanx app on your smartphone in order to use the kiosk, the app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The closure of bank and building society branches is a significant and growing problem on high streets up and down the country, with over 6,000 closed in England in the last nine years. One of the knock-on effects of this is the lack of access to cash, which many vulnerable people, elderly people, community groups, and small businesses rely on.

As a mutual organisation, we want to open our doors to the whole community – making banking more accessible, supporting the local economy, and doing our bit to help our high streets thrive.
