Food banks provide emergency support for those in food poverty or crisis. Food is donated at various collection points and then volunteers sort the donations into parcels which are given out to those in need.
Many are part of the Trussell Trust network, but some areas have independent food banks that you can find by searching online.
Some food banks can help with utility bills, as well as provide support by signposting to other organisations and services. In order to use a food bank, you will usually need to be referred. You can find out more about accessing support from a food bank on the Trussell Trust website.
