Our inaugural Member Talk event took place at our newly refurbished Newbury branch on Thursday 26th January.
Member Talk is a brand new initiative which provides members with the opportunity to meet and talk to Executives and senior managers from the Society, as well as find out about things they're interested in through an open Q&A session.
As a mutual organisation, we feel very strongly that we want to give our members as many opportunities as possible to shape our plans and activities and make it as easy as possible to find out about the things that are important to them.
We look out for events like this – it has been wonderful, thank you for putting on such a lovely evening!
Andy Ransom, Head of Compliance, and Director of Customer Service, Melanie Mildenhall, both gave presentations on the night. The first was focused on scams and fraud awareness, and how members can take steps to protect themselves, their properties, and their savings from criminals. The second presentation outlined the refurbishment of our Newbury branch, as well as the steps we have taken to improve the environmental impact of the building.
We were delighted to share the evening with a number of Newbury branch members, many of whom shared stories of the role that the Society has played in their lives throughout the years.
It was a privilege to host our first Member Talk event at our newly refurbished Newbury branch. Members got to hear from our Executive team, as well as participate in some great sessions on recognising scams, protecting yourself from fraud and the continued importance of our branches. Members may sometimes think of the AGM as the only way to have their say, but these member events, our Member Forum and community and charity support schemes, are all great ways of shaping the Society.
