My employee story: Jonah

Jonah is a Data Analyst Apprentice in our Data Team. Here's what he has to say:

"I joined Newbury Building Society after I finished my A-Levels, where I studied Maths, Economics, and PE. I enjoyed the formulas and statistical side of my maths, but enjoyed the application of economics. I got accepted into all of my chosen universities to study economics, but I also applied for apprenticeships as I was ready to start a professional career.

I had offers from financial services companies in both London and Reading. My current role was advertised, and I applied. After going through the interview process and getting a feel for what working at Newbury would be like, I knew it was the perfect job for me.

My current role as a Data Analyst Apprentice involves creating reports that go to others around the business to help us make business decisions. I enjoy analysing large sets of data and using lots of different software such as SQL, Python, and R. Learning and becoming competent  in both my business knowledge and technical knowledge has been a key part of my time here so far, and I can't wait to continue learning more and helping others at the society.

I'm very grateful for all of my colleagues and the amount of support that I have received since I started. The people really make this place very special."
