myaccounts FAQ - Security details

A username is a unique identifier for each customer that is required each time you log in. This will be issued in the first email to you following registration for online services. Your username cannot be changed. Make sure you keep it safe.

A password is a crucial piece of information that is used to identify that an individual is who they claim to be. Your password must be kept secret at all times and you should never disclose your security details to anyone. We will never ask you for your password or memorable information over the telephone.

Your password must be between 8 and 20 characters, containing at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, 1 number and 1 special character e.g. $@!%*?&

Your memorable information acts as an extra piece of security information to keep your details - and your money - safe. Like your password, it must be kept secret at all times and you should never disclose your security details to anyone. Please do not disclose your password or memorable information, we will never ask you for this.

Yes, after 20 minutes you will be logged out automatically. This is a security measure in case you leave your computer unattended.

We recommend that you always fully log out of myaccounts as it may be possible for someone else to access your account if you only close your browser. This is especially important if you are using a shared computer.

Visit our ‘Logging in’ page and click the 'Forgotten password' link.
