Possible rate change ahead?

Which route would you consider recommending?

Why recommend a variable route?

A variable discount mortgage is where you benefit from a discount on the lender's Standard Variable Rate (SVR), which is set in response to the Bank of England's Base Rate. This means the rate can increase or decrease if we change our SVR during the mortgage term, however, those on a discounted variable mortgage will always pay less than our SVR throughout the product term. If our SVR decreases during the mortgage term, so will their payments.

Our variable product news?

From 23 July 2024 we are making these variable products fee-free for purchase and remortgage! (Fixed products retain a fee of £850.)

Whether a variable rate mortgage is right for a customer will depend on their personal financial circumstances, and your advice will be key. Variable rate mortgages have the potential to make savings for customers when interest rates fall, so if you want to explore them now click here to see our whole variable range.

Plus!

  • MoneyFacts recently awarded our 3-year variable discount 4.89% at 75% LTV an 'Outstanding' Product Rating.

  • During the ERC period overpayments are permitted on discounted products of up to 20% of the original loan amount per year (vs 10% on fixed products.)
