Convoys, bike racks, and solar panels: our latest Community Support Scheme donations

In our second round of Community Support Scheme funding of 2024, we are pleased to have been able to donate a total of £6,050 to 9 local organisations throughout our branch towns.

The Community Support Scheme offers funding to organisations in and around our ten branch towns. Applications are open four times a year, and typical grants range from £100-£500. In the second round of 2024, we have been able to give donations to 9 incredibly diverse organisations.

All Saints C of E Primary School

Our donation of £500 to All Saints C of E Primary School will be used to replace the worn-out football kit for their girl's and boy's football teams.

Alton Allotment Association

Alton Allotment Association provide help and support to allotment members over 5 sites across Alton. The allotments are a valuable asset to the community, and often surplus produce is donated to the local foodbank. Our donation of £500 will be used to purchase small battery powered tools and towards the cost of solar panels for their community sheds.

Aureus Secondary School

Our donation of £250 to Aureus Secondary School will help with the set design on their very own production of High School Musical. The donation will allow the students to be creative and design their show.

Commemorative Convoys

We donated £300 to Commemorative Convoys to support their run of classic, military vehicles from Basingstoke to Hungerford on the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Friends of Welford and Wickham Primary School

The Friends of Welford and Wickham Primary School are a PTA organisation. Our donation of £500 will go towards purchasing a new set of phonics books, which will improve the range of books and continue to support pupils with their reading journeys.

Radley Parish Council

Our donation of £500 to Radley Parish Council will help to purchase new cycle racks for outside Radley Village Hall. The racks will help to promote active travel through the provision of secure cycle parking, as well as decreasing car usage in the village.

We are extremely grateful for the support Newbury Building Society has shown in this respect and we are looking forward to seeing the project completed in mid-2025.

Tower House Horses

Our donation of £500 to Tower House Horses will go towards their target of delivering six 'Horses Change Minds' programme throughout 2024. This means Tower House Horses will be able to at least 36 vulnerable individuals.

Young People and Children First

Young People and Children First, based in Thatcham, support young people aged 16-25 from West Berkshire and surrounding counties who are soon to be leaving foster care, or homeless. The charity provide a safe place to reside at one of their three houses in Thatcham, offering one-to-one support and guidance during their transition to independent living.

Our donation of £500 will be use to offer the young individuals activities and sessions which promote their wellbeing and emotional health.

We are delighted to have received this generous cheque from Newbury Building Society. It will be used to benefit the foster care leavers and the young homeless that we support in the local area. Being able to provide them with the support and activities can really help boost their health and wellbeing which is vital to the support we offer them.
