Help for landlords in making their rental properties more energy efficient

The government have proposed that all rental properties will need an EPC rating of ‘C’ or above by 2025.

Since 2018, in order to rent out a property it must have an EPC rating of E but the government is proposing to change this in 2025. If the change goes ahead then all new tenancies must have a rating of C and by 2028 this will apply to all existing tenancies.

Our GoGreen mortgage range has now been extended to include products for existing buy to let mortgage customers who wish to take further lending to improve the energy efficiency of their rental properties.

The mortgages are available for loans between £2,500 and £39,999, with the requirement that 50% of the loan will be used for improvements to the property included in the list below:

  • Air source heat pump

  • Ground source heat pump

  • Cavity wall insulation

  • Double/triple glazing and/or replacement windows

  • Installation of an electric car charging point

  • Loft insulation

  • Installation of a wind turbine and/or solar panels

  • Rainwater harvesting

  • Installation of wet underfloor heating systems

  • New condensing boiler
