We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Workman as a new Non-Executive Director.
Ian joined the Board in January 2025, bringing over 25 years’ expertise in financial services with him, having previously held roles at Barclays and Yorkshire Building Society. He is passionate about social impact and equality and has been Chief Customer Officer (CCO) for Homes England, the government’s housing agency, since 2022.
Chair of the Board, Piers Williamson, commented: “I am pleased to welcome Ian to our Board as a Non-Executive Director. His many years of experience in the financial services sector, coupled with his passion for customers, as demonstrated in his role as CCO at Homes England, makes him a perfect fit for the Society.”
I am privileged and delighted to have been asked to join the Board of Newbury Building Society. Newbury has a proud 167-year history, and I am excited about being part of the team ensuring the Society supports its members and is here for the next 167 years as well.

Ian joins the Risk Committee as well as the Society’s Digital Advisory Panel.
