Newbury Building Society appoints new Non-Executive to Board of Directors

Newbury Building Society has appointed Alistair Welham to its Board of Directors.

Alistair has over 25 years’ experience in marketing and digital communications having specialised in financial services, real estate, car retailing industries, and is an Executive member of the Financial Services Forum and programme faculty member of Imperial College Business School on digital transformation.

As an experienced Marketing Director, Alistair plays an active role in brand development and creative communications while ensuring customer-centric strategies to drive business objectives forward.

Alistair commented: “Growing up in Reading and with family in Mortimer I am delighted to be joining Newbury Building Society at such an exciting time in its development.

“Over the past thirty years I have worked across the building society and financial services sector and as a firm believer in the value of mutuality, I want to bring my experience and knowledge to bear for the benefit of our members, employees and local communities.

“At the 163rd AGM it was wonderful to see the level of support the Society receives, how the membership is growing, and the recognition the Society receives for its excellent customer service.

“I recognise in such a fast-paced world it is a challenge for the Society to balance the opportunities new technology and digital marketing brings and will look to help the Society with its digital development and member engagement, both on and offline.

“I look forward to the part I can play in the Society’s continued success.”

Alistair also holds positions with Aegon UK as Head of Marketing Communications and is a Trustee of the Brighton Student Union.

Roland Gardner, CEO of Newbury Building Society said: “We are pleased to welcome Alistair as a Non-Executive Director. His experience of working in financial services means he is ideally placed to push our marketing and communication strategies forward, as we continue to fulfil our ambition of being a more modern and digitally capable organisation.”
