Walk this way: Hungerford and Thatcham teams complete 9 mile charity walks

Employees from our Thatcham and Hungerford branches laced up their trainers and took on a nine mile walk earlier this month along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

The sponsored walks took place on 13 and 20 August and were organised in aid of the two branch charity partners, Newbury Cancer Care (registered charity 291975) and Prior's Court (registered charity 1070227).

The route began at our Newbury branch on Northbrook Street, continued along the Kennet and Avon canal tow path, and finished in Hungerford at our branch on the high street. Both walks started at 7.30am and took just under three hours to complete, a time that both teams were very pleased with!

Leah Savage, Customer Service Adviser at Thatcham branch, organised the walks. She commented: “The sponsored walk was really successful, and we have been overwhelmed by all the support and donations. We have managed to raise over £300 so far for such an amazing charity, Newbury Cancer Care.

As a branch we are very happy that we have opportunities like this to come to together and raise money for an amazing cause. I have thoroughly enjoyed organising this walk and look forward to organising many more charity events like this in the future.”

Team Thatcham are all smiles part way through their walk from Newbury to Hungerford

Daisy Simmonds is a Customer Service Adviser in Hungerford. She said: “Our walk was a great success. Knowing we are helping to support Prior’s Court, who provide amazing education and care to young people with autism, made our walk in the rain and shine worth it!”

The teams have raised a combined total of £600 for the two charities. To find out more about our charity partner scheme, click here.
