Background and experience

Michael joined the Society and the Board of Directors in January 2025. Previously, he worked at Deloitte for 21 years, leading the delivery of external audit, internal audit and business advisory and consulting services to a numerous retail banks and building societies on a wide range of strategic and risk-focused matters.

Role and responsibilities

Michael is responsible for the Society’s risk management framework, oversight of the Society’s risk profile and monitoring of risk standards and culture across the business. He is a member of the Executive and leads the Risk and Compliance teams.

Michael is a member of the Executive Strategy and Performance Committee, Executive Operations Committee, Assets and Liabilities Committee, Sales, Product and Marketing Committee, Credit Committee and Assets and Liabilities Committee. He is also an attendee of the Risk and Audit Committees.
